Summer will officially begin on Sunday, but intense heat has been with us for over a week. The remnants of tropical storm Bill brought some much needed rain and cooling to the Shoals Friday evening, but the respite will be short lived.
On Monday, June 22, the high is forecasted to be 98, Tuesday the high will be 100, and Wednesday will reach 99. Heat indexes will be over 100 each day during the peak afternoon heating hours. Fortunately, there will be a bit of relief. Showers and storms coming in Friday will help reduce temperatures to the lower 90’s and overnight lows into the 60’s.
